Already during my studies of sociology at RWTH Aachen, I found my way to Ford when I was given the great opportunity, after some self-initiative, to write my Bachelor's thesis in the field of diversity. After my successful graduation, I managed to start my career at Ford in the area of traning & consulting, before later switching to the area of human resources. At present, I am working as an HR Business Partner in the car manufacturing plant in Köln-Niehl, where I supervise a division of 600 employees.

The study of sociology at the RWTH treats the future-decisive topics of the world from a sociological perspective. This not only creates added value beyond the boundaries of science, but is also super interesting. After my master's degree I started as a consultant at Capgemini Invent. There I now advise federal authorities on all aspects of digitization and operational transformation. The seminars from the Faculty of Technology and Organization are of enormous help to me in this respect, because even there, complex issues and technologies have been analyzed in project groups, transferred to organizations and transformed into action concepts. In order for this to succeed, there is often input beyond the scope of the RWTH. This can take the form of collaborations with companies, other universities or experts from the respective technology sectors. One quickly learns how important sociologists are also in a digital world.

During my sociology studies at RWTH Aachen University, I was particularly concerned with the issues in empirical social research and the sociology of technology. These topics prepared me very well for working in an interdisciplinary way. This interdisciplinarity does not only apply to one or two other subject areas - rather, the methods I learned can be used universally and thus provide points of contact for almost all questions. My student assistant job at the ika also helped me to put the theoretical principles into practice and to get to know the scientific practice in the area of user experience and acceptance research. I also started my thesis there after graduating. I now work for the Stadt Aachen in the Department of Business, Science, Digitalisation and Europe as a project manager. As a student, I benefited greatly from the practical seminars - now I am looking forward to initiating seminars together with the IfS and implementing them in summer semester 2021.

During my studies at RWTH Aachen University, I was driven by the question of the practical implementation possibilities of sociological theories and perspectives. I came into contact with my first employer, Carpus+Partner AG, during a seminar. During my studies, this initially led to collaborations regarding my Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as a working student position. After my studies, I was hired by Carpus+Partner as a consultant in the area of change management. Since then, I have accompanied spatial change processes with a focus on socio-cultural changes in both medium-sized companies and corporate groups. Today I work for mgm consulting partners and also accompany diverse change processes here, which now have their basis in digital changes.
